Abt Extends contract with ABT FormulaE #VeryAbt

Daniel Abt - having fun signing for fans

German driver and team, Daniel Abt and the ABT Formula E Team have announced ahead of this weekends home ePrix in Berlin, that the driver is committed to the team and Formula E for the long term with a new contract extension.

This news comes just 2 weeks after current Formula E WDC leader Lucas di Grassi did the same and will give the team good stability moving forward into the 2015/16 season.

“I feel completely at home in Formula E and want to grow together with the series,” says Daniel Abt. “Formula E is going through a fantastic stage of development that includes exciting races and many cool ideas off the track. I think this series has a great future. I’m delighted to still be on board, and want to grow together with Formula E. I’m obviously very proud that I can race in the future with the team that carries our family name.”

At 22 years of age Abt is the youngest racer on the Formula E grid and team mate Lucas di Grassi see’s a promising future for the driver:

“Daniel has great potential. He’s been doing a great job all season, but unfortunately lady luck hasn’t always been on his side. I’m also looking forward to having him alongside in the future: he’s a great guy who has a fantastic character. We have loads of fun together, but what’s even more important is that we work together perfectly at the track.”

The Team will be looking for a strong weekend at their home ePrix this weekend. As always, be sure to join us live for the race over on our twitter feed @FormulaEDiary
