… That is the view of current Formula E championship leader Lucas Di Grassi. The Audi Sport ABT driver has been speaking ahead of Round 8 of 11 and predicts the circuit and its characteristics can throw up some exciting racing:
“There are two main points for Berlin which are going to make that race completely unique” explains Di Grassi. “The first one is we race in an airport, it’s not a city track, so we will have more margin to risk more, to be more aggressive with the car. Second is the concrete surface, that makes it very slippery, very tricky to drive.”
This type of race will be more vital then ever for a number of drivers and teams as we near the end of the season. Whilst Nelson Piquet Jnr and Sebastien Buemi lie within striking distance of Di Grassi at the top of the championship, other drivers such as Sam Bird – currently 29 points off the lead – will be looking to exploit every opportunity in order to close the gap; especially as the drivers at the top begin to think about protecting their lead! Likewise second place Team ABT will be looking for a good race from both it’s drivers as they try and overhaul their 45 point deficit to e.dams-Renault currently sitting pretty at the top of the constructors championship.
